Songkran is a festival held to celebrate the Thai New Year which falls in mid-April. The Sukhothai Songkran celebrations are very popular as there are plenty of fun activities integrated with several religious rituals. However Songkran has now also developed into what can only be described as a national water fight. Be aware that if you take to the streets during this days, you are very likely to get wet.
