The morning starts with a visit to the Sukhothai Historical Park. Sukhothai was the first capital of Thailand, and flourished in the thirteenth and fourteenth century AD. You can tour this historical park either by car or bicycle. We recommend starting with a visit to the Ramkhamhaeng Museum. Some of the highlights of the Historical Park are the sprawling Wat Mahathat, Wat Sri Chum with its giant statues of the sitting Buddha and Wat Chang Lom, an elegant stupa decorated with elephants. Lunch will be served at a riverside restaurant just outside Sri Satchanalai Historical Park. In the afternoon it is time to visit Sri Satchanalai and the Sawankalok Kilns, where celadon ceramics are made by a traditional process that has been followed for centuries.
